Highlights of a Fabulous 2013 from Duradek

All of us at Duradek would like to thank you for a truly wonderful 2013. The past year was a really good year for Duradek and the deck building community and there were several significant events for our company and within our industry, most notably the overall growth in the demand for deck building and renovations to support the increased desire for residential outdoor living space.

Here is a look at some of Duradek’s highlights from 2013.

Reaching Out to the Public

After hurricane Sandy devastated the east coast, Duradek offered discounted support to help in the rebuilding process. See Helping to Re-Build the Eastern Seaboard One Deck at a Time with Duradek, published Feb. 13, 2013.

Besides extending the offer for assistance, Duradek requested the public’s assistance with a
‘Name the Colour’ contest with the release of our most recent colour addition to the popular ‘Cork’ line of vinyl. We had a great response and were thrilled with the moniker ‘Graphite’ as seen in Name the New Colour Contest Results, published April 22, 2013.

Celebrity Builders and Duradek

Celebrity builders and home renovation experts called on Duradek in 2013 with the most recent being HGTV’s Income Property. HGTV’s Income Property Called on Duradek for a Waterproofing Solution, published Nov. 11, 2013.

Other notable appearances included radio appearances on the Mr. Fix-it Radio program - Home Improvement Show Featured Duradek with Mr. Fix-it on Radio 720 WGN, published June 5, 2013 and the Gary Sullivan radio program - Gary Sullivan Interviews Duradek Waterproofing Expert at IBS 2013, published on January 30, 2013.

Duradek demonstrated the superior quality of our vinyl with an amazing demonstration of Duradek’s seam strength in a video demo by Duradek of Utah in Unbeatable Seam Strength with Duradek Vinyl Membranes, published on May 29, 2013.

Also the significant results of Accelerated Weathering Testing ASTM G-90 shows how Duradek outperforms other vinyl options with UV ageing as seen in Nothing Lasts Forever, But Duradek Outlasts the Rest, published on July 10, 2013.

An Eye on the Industry

From technical details to design trends, we kept an eye on what was happening in the industry. We shared information provided by NADRA who represented the decking industry at the IRC 2015 code development hearings in Code Development Information for Deck Builders, published on September 30, 2013.

In addition to technical developments, we watched top trends in deck design and were thrilled with how Duradek Contributes to 6 out of 15 Top Design Trends in Single Family Homes, published June 19, 2013.
In 2013 we also kept busy with ensuring our product testing and performance evaluations were all up-to-date, providing an updated CCMC report and a tool for understanding how to interpret ICC-ES reports. 2013 also included the addition of a new detailed drawing (Inside Perimeter Detail IS-09 – Door Detail) for the architectural and building communities that we work to support.

Again, we thank all of the building community for recognizing the strength of Duradek and the home owners who have chosen to enjoy it as their waterproof deck surface through 2013. Coming into our 40th year in business, we are very excited about the thousands of decks we can protect in 2014!
