Windeck - Manitoba's Duradek Deck Experts for 20 Years

At Duradek we are very proud of the waterproofing experts that represent Duradek throughout North America and it is our honor to congratulate Windeck Ltd. on reaching their 20 year anniversary along side Duradek's landmark 40th year.

Windeck Ltd. is owned by Mel and Judy Dueck and their 20 years of establishing this family business as Winnipeg's leading deck experts is no small accomplishment. Under Mel and Judy's leadership with 40 years of building experience, the whole team at Windeck demonstrates their strong passion for decking and for doing it right the first time.

The Duecks' passion continues into the next generation as sons Jordan and Brandon Dueck bring their own acquired expertise into the business as well. Having grown up in the business starting as installers, then becoming project managers and now managing installation teams; the second generation of Dueck men at Windeck are well positioned to carry on the tradition of decking excellence in Manitoba.

In fact, all three Dueck men recently attended the Deck Expo | Remodeling Show that took place in Baltimore, MD a couple of weeks ago to be sure to stay well educated on what is going on in the decking industry. Manitoba decks are in good hands!

Windeck Ltd. is the only source of Duradek in Manitoba and has a strong network of trained and authorized dealers to install our waterproof vinyl deck membranes. Whether your project is a high-rise multi-residential project in Metro Winnipeg or a cozy lakeside cottage retreat, Windeck can turn your ideas into a masterpiece. The professionals of Windeck will design and build your deck to suite the layout and style of your home.

As members of the Better Business Bureau, Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Home Builders Association, the professionals at Windeck have earned a reputation for quality work and have been 6-time recipients of the Consumer Choice Awards. Check out this Consumer Choice Award video clip of Windeck Ltd on YouTube.

Windeck's product offerings are all carefully selected to be able to withstand the sometimes harsh environment that Manitoba can be subject to. Whether it is the extreme cold of the winters or the sun-soaked hot summers, Duradek from Windeck will make sure your deck stays beautifully protected without the need for maintenance. Just a simple seasonal cleaning is all it takes to keep your deck looking great...even after months of being covered in snow and de-icers! In fact, in Manitoba there are even decks that have had Duradek for more than 20 years and it is still going strong with its superior waterproofing performance.

If you've got any decking projects in your future, be sure to talk the Dueck men at Windeck who will make sure you get a deck that is beautiful, well-protected, low-maintenance and perfectly designed for space and your needs.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Duradek and the Vinyl Bucket

There is a delicious irony when people who have dedicated their lives to waterproof protection are doused with ice-cold water.
That's exactly what happened this week at Duradek's headquarters in Surrey, BC when Duradek's owners and sales managers took the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS.
Gail Penner of Victoria Deck, Duradek's authorized Victoria dealer, nominated Duradek president, John Ogilvie, Duradek National Sales Manager, Kevin MacMillan and Duradek Regional Sales Manager, Winston Conyers. The men of Duradek were up for the challenge...and of course, put the challenge forward.
Duradek president, John Ogilvie extended the challenge forward to Duradek's Canadian Distributors - Rene Laberge of Saskatoon Deck Shop (Saskatchewan), Mel Dueck of Windeck (Manitoba) and Jim Simpson of Raildek Distribution (Ontario)....as well as his partner and brother, Bob Ogilvie.
It is a beautiful thing to see a fundraising effort take off so strongly and spread so widely.   If only a fraction of the people who participated in the awareness portion by publishing YouTube videos of the dumping cold water over their heads have donated funds, it's no wonder that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge campaign has more that reached it's goal.
Duradek staff members raised nearly $100 to see their managers participate, and John and Bob Ogilvie generously donated $500 on behalf of all of the 4 men who participated at Duradek's Canadian headquarters on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Of course, as a business participating, we wanted to take the opportunity to show off the strength of our Duradek membrane and how the heat-welded seams completely protect a deck from water penetration. There have been some competitor generated rumours and even an amusing staged video that attempts to infer that Duradek's seam strength is not as strong as theirs. Well, we can put that myth to rest!

One of our talented Duradek installers, Trevor Deighton of Full Deck Restorations, made us a bucket constructed of Duradek Ultra Cork Macchiato.  Duradek's roof grade waterproof protection was able to hold approximately 4 gallons of water without showing any signs of stress on the seams, so you can be certain when it is laid on your roof deck or balcony that it is water-tight!
Here is a video compilation of all of our participants; and below you will find links to their individual videos to hear who they nominated to forward the ALS Challenge to keep the awareness and fundraising going. Thank you to all for participating!
